Liverpool are ready to shatter their club record and fork out £40million to take Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Anfield.
That is according to The Express, who say Jurgen Klopp is keen on securing the services of the Englishman who is set to enter the final 12 months of his Gunners contract.
Oxlade-Chamberlain reportedly has a £100,000-a-week contract offer on the table in north London but has struggled to hold down a place as a regular starter.
The 23-year-old was utilised as a wing-back in the closing stages of the season as boss Arsene Wenger reverted to a 3-4-3 system.

Arsene Wenger has put Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez on his wanted list.
The Arsenal boss is weighing up a bid for the play-maker, valued at £50million, writes Mirror Football’s Steve Stammers.
The Colombian is keen to leave the Bernabeu in search of regular first-team football ahead of next year’s World Cup in Russia.
Rodriguez, who has also been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United, didn’t even make the subs’ bench for Real’s Champions League final win over Juventus in Cardiff last weekend.
Wenger is also chasing a deal for teenage Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe, who would cost £100m.

West Ham are ready to make a stunning move for Arsenal ‘s Olivier Giroud
France international Giroud confirmed last week that he “will not settle for another year with such limited playing time” at the Emirates, writes Mirror Football’s Tom Hopkinson.
There has already been interest in the 30-year-old from French giants Marseille and several clubs in Italy, but the Hammers are confident they can match any offer and keep the £20million striker in London.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis were in Nice last week, reportedly talking to Lyon president Jean Michael-Aulas about Alexandre Lacazette , while their desire to sign 18-year-old sensation Kylian Mbappe from Monaco is also confirmed — and neither frontman would join to play second-fiddle to Giroud.
