Alex Iwobi continues to enjoy a stunning rise at English Premier League club, Arsenal since he broke into the first team towards the end of last season.
The 19-year-old has since established himself in Arsene Wenger’s first team and is now a regular with the Nigeria national team, the Super Eagles.
Now faced with the Premier League’s increased popularity in Nigeria, Iwobi’s progress will be followed in detail on a week-by-week basis by his compatriots.
“This league (Premier League) is extremely popular all over the world.
“When I went back to my country, Nigeria (to play for the national team), I couldn’t believe just how much the fans follow the league.
“It was just crazy,” he said.
Nigeria have a rich heritage of players in the Premier League including Iwobi’s uncle, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, who played for Bolton Wanderers and Hull City.
Iwobi has yet to score for Arsenal in nine league appearances for the club
