Demba Ba suffered a horrific broken leg that could well end his career while in action for Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese Super League over the weekend, and now alleged X-ray images purport to show the extent of the damage.
The 31-year-old Senegalese striker was left in agony after an innocuous challenge from Shanghai SIPG defender Sun Xiang – once the first Chinese player to play in the UEFA Champions League -with his left leg appearing to snap clean in two below the knee.
From the pair of X-rays that have been shared on social media, it looks like a bad one.
“It could end Ba’s professional career. I would rather lose the game than lose Ba. God is unfair. Ba is too good to have this happened to him,” Shenhua boss Gregorio Manzano was quoted as saying after the final whistle.
